What Do You Want – Really? Part 2: Turning Your Wants Into Goals

Posted on Updated on

If you did the suggested work in Part One of What Do You Want – Really? then you made at least a partial list of items or situations you really want to come true – the deep-down wants beyond the superficial wants. If you haven’t yet made even a partial list, then please reread What Do You Want – Really?

Why? Because unless you know what you want – really, then you won’t accomplish what you truly desire – even if it is merely to survive. But go for more than survival. This is your life! There are miracles waiting for you once you know what you want most desperately, and how to bring that desperate desire into reality, which will be in Part 3, Turning Your Goals Into Realities.

But for now we’re talking about turning those wants into goals.

As I mentioned in Part 1, the question of what you really want seems like it would be easy to answer, but it is often one of the most difficult questions we ask ourselves. Especially if our lives are tied up with a sociopath who bans self-thought of what we want for ourselves or our children. You might feel you aren’t allowed to choose for yourself, that in doing so you will suffer punishment for daring to do so. Which means, often, to be safe and to try to maintain peace, or lack of abuse, you merely go along with what the sociopath dictates. For survival, maybe what you want is not to be hit again. But is that what you want – really? These are tough questions when life is tough. But, and this is important, unless you know what you really want, you’ll never get to where you truly want to be.

At this moment in time, the challenge is to now take that list of wants and turn them into goals.

What is the difference?

  • Wants means to merely wish for something to happen.
  • Goals are focused targets where you’ve made a commitment. Commitment is necessary in following through with what you feel you’re Divinely guided to do. Folliwng through means the steps you take in order to bring those goals into reality, which will be in Part 3, Turning Your Goals Into Realities.

FROM TRUTH: IMPORTANT! If what you want is to stop the abuse, click on the link: Stop the Abuse

Let’s assume you’ve made a list – even if it is only in your head so that someone else doesn’t see it and lash out at you. Your list will depend on where you are in life, your situation, your unhappiness with where you are, and what you feel is important to do to improve your situation.

For example: If you are, unfortunately, linked in some capacity with a sociopathic personality, then merely wanting to survive the abuse seems like all you might be able to accomplish. But let’s go beyond that situation.

If you could do anything without recourse, what would you like your life to look like? Peaceful? Happy? Free? Living without fear?  Think deeply about this question. Your life might depend on it.

If you don’t like your situation, then how might you want to change it? If you naively believe that your love will change that sociopath, then think again. They don’t think like you do. They have a different agenda. They might plead and beg and say how sorry they are and that it will never happen again, but it will. In fact, the longer you tolerate abuse, the worse it will grow because you are encouraging their bad behavior. At that point, you are becoming part of the problem.

Think about yourself, and your children if you have any. Don’t let them grow up knowing and experiencing abuse. They will either become the abuser, or the recipient of abuse. You are their example. Be a good one!

Going back to our potential example:

  • First, you want – really – to get out of your toxic situation – safely! You should never allow anyone to abuse you or bully you either physically or emotionally. As I said before, if you allow it, you are part of the problem. How do you do that?
    •  See Link: How to Stop the Abuse. There are links there you can contact for help. There is legal advice, financial assistance, places you can go, and more.

NOTE: Ties to family and friends might have been cut by the abuser/controller. Usually that is a mirage and your friends and family care very much about what happens to you but have lost a means of contact. With that said:

      1.  Family and/or Friends: it depends on your family and friends whether they are supportive of your getting away, or don’t believe you have a problem and tell you to stay, or, you made the original choice, now live with it. Wrong! No one is so perfect as to know everything about everyone, and sometimes we, in good faith, get sucked into a bad situation.  You might realize that if your family can help you, and you are in a dangerous relationship, that you will most likely need to find an unexpected location for you, and children if you have them. But think of the freedom! Of living without fear!
      2.  Church: Again, it depends on the church pastor. They might be understanding and helpful, or they might tell you that you would be sinful to try to leave and to start life over. If they are the understanding type, they will probably have suggestions on how to help you.
      3. Police/Sheriff: Yet again, it depends on the person and their laws as to what they can do. As long as your abuser/controller isn’t connected with the police/sheriff, you might be all right going to them for help and/or advice. They might not be able to do anything unless the person is caught in the act of abuse, but you can at least ask.
      4. Local nonprofits who are there to help you in your situation.
  • Second, starting over. Begin thinking about the urgings of your heart. Unearth those long-buried dreams. Those are God-seeds planted within your heart that will bring you the greatest joy. True, you might have to do something short-term to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, but remember, it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you do what you do with love – from being a janitor, or waiting tables, or being President. Do it with love. All are noble occupations and equally important. No person is more important than any other because we are all God-creations, created by the same God from the same God-stuff. Pray, ask God for help.

In the above potential example, you’ve gone from Wishing, to Commitment. You’ve moved from Wants, to Goals. Something on which you can focus and work.

Perhaps your wants aren’t as extreme as the potential example, but you get the idea.

For another example: Your want might be to be wealthy. But what do you really want? What the wealth might provide? Security? Travel? A home? Joy? Happiness? Merely having wealth doesn’t guarantee any of those outcomes. Perhaps you want fame? Why? To feel you are noticed and important? Or, to the other side, that you have a skill or talent you would love to share with the world so as to help people. Just being famous doesn’t mean you are happy and fulfilled. You don’t need to be famous to matter. You matter now. You are important now. Go beyond the superficial wants to the life-enriching goals that really matter, that really make a difference. This is your life. With God’s help and guidance, you can make it the most rewarding and fulfilling life possible.

Keep working on your list. Move your wants to goals, tangibles where you will focus your energy and effort. Do feel something positive stirring within your heart? Do you feel hope? If so, you are amazing to get to this point. It takes courage, AND FAITH.

ALWAYS PRAY AND ASK FOR HELP. Then listen for the answers or be aware of subtle changes in your life.

EXPECT A MIRACLE.

REMEMBER: You do not have to know the HOW, only the WHAT. The Divine takes care of the how. In fact, the Divine is with you through everything – the entire process – as a co-creator of which goals are best for you, your belief in and trust that the goals are already yours, along with the Divine Implementer carrying out the how to a successful result – thought into form, cause into effect.

The following post is to help you take control of your life by knowing what you want – not an easy answer.    Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p.  2015. p. 207-211. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

Carolyne Cathey writes…

WHAT DO YOU WANT?’

The following are three quotes on this topic from Jesus, my Spiritual Mentor:

Jesus wants me to share these quotes to benefit you:

“What do you want? Partner with the Divine to know what is best for you. Open up to possibilities and true-heart’s-desires you never had the courage to express, or even more, to go for. How can you experience the life you truly want if you don’t know what that is?” ~ Jesus

“Free will is your gift from the Creator. Your power lies in your freedom to choose. No one can take that power from you unless you allow it. Choose well. Choose from your unlimited supply of options and answers provided by the Divine, for you.” ~ Jesus

“In reality, you are choosing continuously. Everything you do is a choice – every thought, every word, every action. The key is to choose well.”

And yet, to choose well, first, know what you want.

Do you see how it all cycles back to knowing what you want? Knowing what you want is crucial. How do you decide what you want? Some of us have a tendency to merely drift – and often to drift along with the current of what others want. Sometimes, through fear or false sense of security, we go for what is expected, or safe, or traditional, or the easy route.

Have you felt challenged in knowing what you really want?

The following is a true story of a Divine Message I (Carolyne) received that I call…

“What Do You Want?”

One day I was driving a winding rural road to attend Sunday Celebration at our local Spiritual Center. While steering around the curves, I conversed with my inner Jesus/Christ/Mentor/guide/friend about my upcoming financial needs for our grandson’s graduation, airline tickets for the children, birthdays, and on and on for all the things I wanted to provide for the people I love.

“What do you want?” the Divine voice interrupted.

After recovering from the surprise of audibly hearing his voice, I thought a minute. “Abundance for the children and grandchildren…”

“That’s for someone else. What do you want?”

“Well, a higher spiritual path….”

“You already have that. What do you want?”

Everything I thought of was to benefit someone else. And every time, he said…

“No, what do you want? Everyone else is being taken care of. What do you want for you?”

I was at a loss to come up with anything specific for me, personally. “That’s really hard!” I responded. I thought for a day and still hadn’t really come up with anything in particular. I asked him, “Would you help me? Would you tell me what I should ask for?”

To my shock, he said…

“No, you must do this on your own. You have gone all through your life letting other people make your decisions for you. People ask you to do something to help them, and you do, and you make it your own. But they were the ones who made the decision for you.

“If you could place an order, like from a menu, knowing it would be brought for you, what would you ask for? What do you want?”

I’ll admit, I was stumped. Later I said, “Maybe the answer is that I don’t need anything.”

“I’m not going to let you get by with that. What do you want? What would you like to do on this earth in this human experience while you are still here to do it? What will you regret if you don’t do it while you’re alive in the physical? While you have the chance? It’s your time!”

Once I dared think of what I wanted, I started writing everything down. I was amazed. For most of the list there was no reason for me not to have them. Some items were small things like flowers, tabletop water fountains, pretty rocks, candles and books, and, and… There were some bigger things too, which is why I suggest you start writing down everything that gives you pleasure, realizing you never choose anything that restricts anyone else’s freedom. This is about you.

The important part is to know what you want!! How can you go for it, or accomplish it, if you don’t even know what that is?

For example, when we were vacationing with the children, those who knew what they wanted to do we made sure we did it – like playing golf, tennis, ocean fishing, horseback riding on the beach, boogie boarding, white water rafting, their favorite restaurants, seeing friends they hadn’t seen for a year… If they hadn’t first made definite choices and verbalized them, their greatest desires wouldn’t have occurred, and we would have spent time on other ‘stuff’ that wasn’t as meaningful to them. Their definite desires determined the schedule, like a road map.

This message is true for you.

My suggestion to you is to start writing down things or experiences that give you joy, make you feel good and express your inner passion. List everything. Then go beneath the surface-wants to what you really want.

For instance, after working on this exercise, I suddenly discovered that what I originally thought I wanted is really only a superficial want, not the core. For example, I originally said I wanted to be able provide abundance for my children and grandchildren. After several months, the realization ‘aha’d that providing for the children/grandchildren wasn’t what I really wanted. What I really wanted was for my children and grandchildren to be independent and responsible for their own abundance. That’s where their true joy would lie. They would be freer and not dependent on me or anyone else.

By the way, when I went back to my list several weeks later, I realized that much of them had already happened, and the others were in progress.

I challenge you to make your own list, and then go deeper with your thinking. Drill down to the real want. Dig so deeply that you unearth long-buried dreams. This moment is the time to unearth them, clean them off, and bring them to the light and fresh air. Give them to God. Prepare for miracles.

So, I ask you what Jesus asked me…

What do you want?

NOTE: Knowing what you truly want might take time. Also, you might benefit from doing this exercise at least once a year because your goals will change, especially after some are completed, and after you gain courage to go more boldly for those dreams.

EXERCISES for ‘What do you Really Want?’

Don’t worry about any kind of conenction or pattern. Don’t take into consideration whether or not you feel it is possible or realistic. Put fear away. It doesn’t belong here in this exercise. Merely write what comes to you.

But First: What is the most important action for you to take before doing these exercises? Ask for Divine Guidance. Then listen. Ignore fear and open your mind and heart to the intuition, the messages.

We are going to approach what might be your wants from several different angles, so if some of it seems repetitive, it’s for a reason.

REMEMBER, this is your chance. It’s your time!

NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THE HOW!

YOU ARE ONLY TO DETERMINE THE WHAT. The DIVINE SUPPLIES THE HOW.

  • WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU ENJOY, what gives you pleasure, big or small.
  • WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS? What really matters to you? This is a huge clue for you, put within you by the Divine. Listen to those clues. What are your passions?
  • WHAT IS YOUR HEART IS URGING YOU TO DO, or is tugging you in a certain direction that you would LOVE as a result for your life if you had more faith and knew it would turn out well?

Dig beneath the surface or superficial wants to the real wants.

  • WHAT DREAMS ARE LONG-BURIED you might want to unearth?
  • What would you like to do on this earth in this human experience while you are still here to do it?
  • If you were at the end of your life looking backwards, what would you regret not having the courage to do?
  • If you could pick anything for you and your life that you consider a dream existence, what would that look like?

Read through your answers, share some of them if you want.

  • What are the similarities?
  • Is anything missing?
  • Is there a pattern in what you wrote?
  • Did your working on this open up any ‘aha!’s’ for you?
  • Did something come to mind that is an inspiration for you to follow?
  • Circle the ones that are most important to you – a starting place.

HOW MIGHT YOU BE GETTING IN YOUR OWN WAY IN FOLLOWING THROUGH ON the WANTS you just listed?

  • FEAR – how many ways does that fear come through?

NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THE HOW!

YOU ARE ONLY TO DETERMINE THE WHAT. The DIVINE SUPPLIES THE HOW.

Final question: Has this exercise been helpful?

“What do you want? Partner with the Divine to know what is best for you. Open up to possibilities and true-heart’s-desires you never had the courage to express, or even more, to go for. How can you experience the life you truly want if you don’t know what that is?” ~ Jesus

I suggest you take these comments and go inward, ask for Divine help and guidance. Give loving thought to your wants. They will determine your life. Don’t worry about the how. Trust. Have faith. Trust.

REMEMBER, this is your chance. NOW is your time!

Unworthy? Never! You’re Magnificent!

Posted on Updated on

Important! Please read this post!

Don’t allow anyone to tell you that you are stupid, ugly, or unworthy! The people that try to tell you that are only acting from fear – their need to control others to make themselves feel more important. What they are really doing is showing their feelings of fear and inadequacy. Don’t ever listen to them. They are wrong!

The following post is to help you realize how magnificent you are.    Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p.  2015. p. 287-289. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

Carolyne Cathey writes…

Unworthy? Never! You’re Magnificent!

DO YOU EVER feel unworthy and not good enough, or that you don’t believe in yourself and in your magnificence?

The hardest misconception you have to overcome is to know that you are truly unique and special. You are rare, one-of-a-kind. You are created from “God-Stuff’ with all of God’s fabulous attributes, however each creation is an individualized one-of-a-kind. Sadly, this is a difficult concept to accept and yet is the most important truth you are to grasp.

Do you practice a negative habit of putting yourself down, being humble, thinking you don’t count?

Your negative beliefs are all lies. You will never live to your full potential until you know in your heart that—

The Spirit of God dwells within. You are one with that Spirit.

Please take a moment and contemplate the power in that truth. You are one with your Creator and all of the power and intelligence of your Creator. For your own highest spiritual growth and happiness, you are encouraged to realize and accept this truth, and live accordingly, in faith. Have respect for this truth. Honor the God within you.

This issue might not apply to you because you already recognize your worth, but if you don’t, I encourage you to decide, this moment, that you will never again put yourself down. Promise yourself you will practice and repeat this truth to yourself until you ‘know’ that you are of God. I’ve heard the saying, “God don’t make no junk.” Another is that “Don’t say anything about yourself you wouldn’t say about God.”

When you delude yourself into believing you are less incredible than you are, you cheat God, you cheat yourself, and you cheat the world. If you love God, then you must also love yourself because God created you. Whether or not you love God, or believe in God, the truth is that God created you. God loves you.

Dare you disparage your Creator by criticizing the creation? If you have a challenge with self-confidence, aren’t you tired of living the falsehood that you are not good enough? Are you beginning to sense that, somewhere in history, you let mankind decide your worth for you? And believed them? And that in your acceptance of their incorrect beliefs of who you are, you allowed others to control you—to control your destiny? If so, you accepted and lived a lie that is the opposite of the truth, that—

“You are worthy. You are of God. You are one with your Source, your only Source. You are magnificent.” ~ Jesus

Meaning: I urge you to exchange your lack of self-confidence for the fullness of God-confidence. You are to repeat these truths until you ‘know’ they are true. Until you ‘know’, deep down to the very core of you, without doubt, that you are of God. Once you know them in your heart you’ll feel the weight lift from your soul.

Feel the power. Feel the confidence. Feel the joy. This is the being the Divine wants as a partner. A ‘can-do all things’ individual because the ‘can-do’ is your Creator flowing through you. All you are doing is allowing, giving permission for the Greatness of the Universe to use you and bless you.

Once you ‘know’ that truth, then you’ll never want to revert to your old false thinking about yourself. Throw all those untruths into the garbage, because that is what those false beliefs truly are—garbage. Your spiritual mentor assures you that the Divine needs you as a strong partner within the Oneness, for you are the means through which the Divine expands—through you as a physical being.

Reality? Or Mirage?

Posted on Updated on

The following post is helpful for inspiring courage in knowing that just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Where is your happiness? From the inside, or the outside? And why?  Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p.  2015. 381-387. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

Carolyne Cathey writes…

SPIRITUAL ONENESS IS challenging to prove because of the supposed unseen aspect of it. Our tendency is, out of fear, or ego, or misunderstanding, to reach toward the visible, the tangible, which means something you can touch. That, in itself is a clue. Whatever you can touch is only temporary. Your true happiness lies with the intangible, the unseen.

I asked Jesus for an understanding of the tangible versus the intangible. He said:

“Trust in the True Reality that is Unseen and yet is revealed in so many ways—love, joy, beauty, harmony, a smile, compassion, acts of kindness—the qualities in life that matter.”

The following Divine message flashed into my mind in it’s entirety, which is always the way they appear to me, the entire message at once.

Vision:

Wayfarer, a traveler in search of happiness, acceptance, popularity and with a baffling emptiness he longs to fill, stands in front of an invisible ‘something’ that seems like a vast warehouse as large as the Universe. He feels an energy, a power, a silent calling or urging. He senses a luxuriant abundance, all that he could ever dream of, but what bothers him is that he can’t see it or touch it.

A quiet voice that is surely his imagination whispers that what he senses is the Reality, the Eternal Truth, the Creator that is Love—the love from which he was created, the Source of peace, joy and fulfillment. He’s told he is one with that Source, and that all of that bounty is freely and abundantly available to him. Even more bizarre, he’s told that the doorway to all that magnificence is from within him, which makes no sense at all. How could he believe in or trust in something he can’t see or touch? How could something so vast be within him? He decides that weird, crazy thoughts are playing with his mind.

Believing there is nothing for him there, he rejects what is surely insanity and turns toward a barren cracked desert that stretches out in front of him. There isn’t much to view in the dry expanse, but at least it’s something tangible, something he can understand. Shriveled plants struggle to survive in the arid wasteland, pale and wilted because there is no nourishment, but he can see them, and touch them, and prove they exist.

As he scans the desert, he sees a shimmering image in the distance, like a mirage. Squinting to better see, his excitement leaps as he notices people within the wavering vision. They are laughing, having fun and dancing, buying lots of ‘things’ and are busy, busy, busy, which means they must be important people—and popular.

Finally! That is what he is looking for. Wayfarer is hungry for fulfillment, for being liked, for being appreciated and famous. He feels an indescribable emptiness inside that he is desperate to fill. The answer to all of that is right in front of him.

Struggling across the cracked earth, he enters into the mirage. People surround him, rushing around madly. In talking with them he discovers they gain happiness by filling up their homes and lives with ‘things’ and activities—large screen TV’s, the latest technology, extravagant homes and cars, drugs and parties and an excess of outside stimulation and adulation.

Wayfarer is glad he didn’t give into the insanity of going within for happiness. He’s embarrassed he was even tempted. Obviously, its what is outside of him that counts. The society around him proves it.

He learns that these busy, popular, important people aren’t interested in the spiritual exploration because, like Wayfarer, they’re not even sure it exists—they can’t see it, or touch it, and they don’t trust in anything they can’t prove. Wayfarer relates because that is how he feels. He is finally with like-minded people who won’t ridicule him and make him look and feel foolish for trying to understand the impossible.

Everyone looks pleased with all of their ‘stuff’ as if they are having fun, like a game, where the one with the greatest and newest is the most adulated. They obviously believe all of that ‘stuff’ and activity will fulfill them because they are working so hard to get it, and they must be correct or they wouldn’t be so elated.

Wayfarer thinks that if he had what they have, then he would be happy, too. He finds a place to live and starts buying and amassing things. Oddly, he notices he’s not any happier, and maybe even less so, but perhaps he’s not doing it right and hasn’t given the effort enough time. So he buys more and bigger and better and newer and takes feel-good drugs as do his new friends with whom he’s hanging out and who make him feel accepted. He works even harder to fit in and be popular. Some of the things people say and do don’t seem quite right to him, but to be liked, he goes along and pretends he fits in by mimicking what they say and do.

He hides that he’s puzzled as to why he still isn’t happy on the inside. He wonders why everyone else is so apparently gratified and he isn’t? What is he doing wrong? Despite all he has bought and done and taken and the friends he has around him, he is still hungry for something indefinable. He feels unfulfilled, still seeking, still wondering what else he can buy or do to fill that emptiness.

Maybe he didn’t pick the right ‘things’, or wasn’t with the right people, or the right job, or he might take even more exotic drugs because they entice with momentary pleasure even though the drugs then betray him with making him want more, and more. He keeps grasping—for what he’s not sure.

Where is the magic answer? Of course, some of the material goods are vital for his survival and enjoyment of the physical. He’s beginning to suspect that they are only for living in comfort, not for satisfaction.

As time goes on, he notices incongruities. People on drugs don’t appear as happy as they once did, some even look ill. Lives falling apart. Desperate. Hanging out in dirty alleys. Dying too young. The people rushing around the streets have a strained look in their eyes, as if all is not as it appears. Their smiles don’t reach their eyes anymore. They almost seem a little confused, like Wayfarer does, and that if they just try harder, or keep pretending and keep everyone fooled until it actually happens—the ‘fake it until you make it’ mentality, then . . . .

Disillusioned, he acknowledges that the things outside of him aren’t satisfying him on the inside at all. A traitorous thought leaps into his mind—

Inside? As in going within? Is it possible that the ‘outside’ can never satisfy the ‘inside’?

The thought frightens him. Maybe he really is crazy.

He hears that disturbing voice again that his true happiness is inside him, that he is created from the One Source, within God, within the Unlimited Supplier, the Power of the Universe.

The quiet inner voice insists that the True Riches are piled high for his enjoyment, his for the taking, and that to access them he only has to go within and surrender. What nonsense! What a fearful concept! Surrender? But that means he loses control.

And yet, he learned that his soul still feels a thirst that nothing outside of him quenches. Like a mirage, what he’s been striving for are apparently only illusory promises that vanish when he gets close to his goal, and always just out of reach.

He is at a point of decision. Should he risk everything and trust in the unseen that is said to be the Reality? Or keep searching for things and stuff that he can see and touch and yet disappointingly reveal themselves as illusions?

Wayfarer has a choice. He’s told that all he has to do is go within to his Source, to his Unlimited Supplier, to the abundance of the Universe, and say ‘help me’. To go within and say ‘yes’. To surrender all that is illusion for the truth of who he truly is—one with and within the Divine.

The voice promises that within, in connection with the Divine, is where his true happiness lies, his only fulfillment. He acknowledges his other attempts at happiness failed.

Which will Wayfarer choose? Reality? Or Mirage?

Which have you chosen for you?

Meaning: The tangible is temporary, the mirage. The intangible is lasting, the Reality. You’re provided free will. You have a choice, the most important choice you will ever make.

Yes, life is to be enjoyed. A life of abundance. What is crucial for you to know is that your true happiness comes from within you, not from anything outside of you.

Once you get the ‘inside’ part and surrender, then you’re allowing the Divine to guide you with the ‘outside’, too, making life more wonderful than you ever imagined.

“You are to repeat and repeat until all know without doubt, you are one with the Source, and the Source is your Unlimited Supplier, not a human.”

Which means you are to turn to the Source for all things, and,

“Once you ‘get Oneness’, everything else falls in place.” ~  Jesus, / Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life. p. 387. 2015. Cathey, Carolyne.

Mistake or Triumph, You Still Learn the Truth

Posted on Updated on

The following post is helpful in that we have permission to be more forgiving of ourselves when we make mistakes (which we all do), and whether we do it right, or wrong, we still learn. Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p.  2015. 321-326. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

Carolyne Cathey writes…

MY ‘AHA!’ MOMENT one morning when studying, thinking and meditating is that we experience the same ‘Aha!’ whether from our mistakes or from our successes.

When you make a mistake, you learn what you should have done.

When you triumph, you realize what you did was right.

Either way, you learned the same lesson. That knowledge is freeing. Instead of mentally beating yourself up because you messed up, you still learn the lesson—you still learn the truth. It’s just that the ‘Aha!’ is more fun and rewarding when you learn from the positive results instead of the negative consequences.

This particular Divine message came to me shortly after moving to the rural Pacific coast where I attended a new spiritual center.

During the Sunday Celebration service, I experienced a vision of God’s white, sparkling light flowing from within and through me while in the darkness of space, then we were soaring over the expanse of the ocean near the coastline . . . .

The words of the opening song stunned me as they repeated my entire vision in the same order I’d received it. The first phrase of the song caught my attention, but by the second and third lines, when I realized that not just one part of my vision was being sung back to me, but all of it, tears welled in my eyes and a lump formed in my throat. I struggled not to cry while my vision was sung in beautiful harmony from all around me.

A voice within me whispered,

“You’re home.

I knew from the message that, despite my doubts and lack of total understanding of the differences between what I had learned in the more traditional churches and what I was learning in the new location, that Jesus purposely guided me to this particular church during that period of my spiritual growth to help ‘undo’ some of the false teachings. I knew I was right where God wanted me to be. A comforting ‘knowing’.

In further explanation, I struggled with the transitions from some of the more traditional religious teachings of the duality of God and Satan, to the truth that there is only one Source, and that Source is All Love. After being taught otherwise, I was now learning there is no opposing force such as Satan, or the Devil.

To support that claim were my findings when I reviewed www.near-death.com, an online compilation of people who shared their near-death experiences when out of body. In reading people’s comments, not one person reported seeing a separate entity considered the devil. Not one. As a result, I started opening my mind and heart to the proposal of Oneness versus Duality. After even more studies, I learned that the concept of duality and evil as separate beings was introduced to the Jews during their captivity in Persia (a Persian doctrine), which was a shift from the original Jewish beliefs.

During my transition-confusion, I stayed away from the newly-found Sunday Celebrations because of my struggle with what to believe. For some reason (Divine guidance?) I decided to attend that particular morning where I received the inner message I was right where I was supposed to be for my continuing spiritual growth.

As with all my unexpected messages, I am in awe of the validation of my visions being expressed back to me in someone else’s words, but the power of this particular validation pushed me to the next step—encouraging me to step out in faith even though I didn’t completely understand, as with the vision years ago that I mentioned in The Calling when my deceased grandmother asked me to follow Jesus.

During the service, the Inner Voice strongly urged me to share with the group my recently received revelation that in their Center, I was ‘home’.

In conflict, the ‘other voice’ (interesting that ‘Our Two Voices’ was the guest speaker’s topic that day), was telling me that ‘no one wants to hear my personal experiences’, that ‘who cares?’, and besides, it’s my experience alone, and I pride myself on keeping so much of my inner self to myself. Or, now that I’m thinking back, perhaps I’ve established a habit to protect myself from judgment, risk and ridicule from people revising my experiences for me to tell me what I really experienced, which was the opposite of what I foolishly believed. So to risk all that with strangers and people I barely knew was too much to ask. Or so I feared. Notice that fear is always negative.

By the way, the ‘other voice’ is called ego and rules from fear.

At the end of the service when we were asked to share something personal from our hearts, I regretted not having the courage to make the announcement of ‘being home’. I messed up. I missed out on what God encouraged me to do. I failed. That failure was validated when, later, the subject was discussed of how important it is to share with others. And now it was too late. The moment had passed, never to come again.

One morning the realization came to me that even though I rejected my Divine inner voice, I still received the ‘Aha’. If I had stepped out in faith and publicly revealed my vision/song experience that morning with a welcoming by the Center, I would have received an—

“Aha! So that’s why I was urged to step out in faith.”

And yet, by not stepping out in faith, which resulted in a missed opportunity, I still learned with an—

“Aha! So that’s why I was supposed to step out in faith.”

Either way, I learned.

That said, you will experience fewer regrets and more joy and confidence when you follow, not your fear-ego, but your Divine Guide that knows what is best for you and your life.

Meaning: This message teaches that no matter whether mistake or triumph, you still experience the ‘aha’. You still learn the Truth.

The message also reaffirms your challenge with listening to your ‘two inner voices’—the Divine, and ego/fear. Divine guidance is always positive, encouraging you to reach beyond your self-imposed comfort level; ego/fear is always negative, intimidating you into withdrawing into your false ‘safety’ zone.

There is no denying that some mistakes have more devastating results than others. Wisdom is to choose to do it right the first time by listening to and following the Divine Voice. Think how that choice simplifies your life. Think how much grief and disappointment you avoid by trusting in your Divine Intuition and acting on it.

Learn to open to, listen to, and trust the messages you receive. They will empower you and your life.

Politics! How do I Love Those Who…?

Posted on Updated on

Although the following post is suggestions on threading your way safely and lovingly through political situations, the information is also relevant to dealing with any challenging personality. Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p. 181-186. 2015. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

Carolyne Cathey writes…

POLITICS MAKES ENEMIES out of friends. Why is that? Do you ever wonder how two wonderful people can look at and listen to the same incident and yet have opposite reactions? Anyone who follows the news media, and your friends, or your former friends, knows this is true. I’ll wonder, did we even watch the same event? How is it possible that we look at these issues from such conflicting viewpoints?

Another puzzle is that the people, candidates, TV news panels, newspapers and political supporters often practice the same behavior they claim they hate. They become what they dislike. They talk love while calling their opponents hateful names. They talk togetherness while spouting divisive accusations. They yell that if they don’t get their way, they promise to be a wounding thorn in the democratic process no matter who gets hurt, instead of being part of a healing collaboration. I’m not talking about a particular party or candidate. I’m talking about what happens when someone wants to win so badly that they’ll do anything to win—even behaving in ways they claim they strongly disapprove of in other people.

Calm discussion is rarely possible in these instances. Far too often, friendships are ended merely because their friends have differing thoughts and ideas.

Divine Conversation about Politics

Like you are encouraged to do, I took my concerns to Jesus who very patiently listened while I ranted and raved about what I thought were the overwhelming injustices in the world, finally working my way to—

“Politics!” I yelled within my mind. “How do I respond when beliefs are so very different? How do I react when I feel that all I hear are lies, that what they say is only what they want me to believe is the truth, but isn’t, and they know it isn’t the truth, but it helps them to get what they want, which is power and control. They spread those horrible lies in order to further their agenda, then people who believe them act out as if the lies are true, hurting themselves, others, our country and world with long-lasting affects. I feel manipulated, like a sucker being played. How do I—”

“With love” Jesus said. “Love is all that matters. That means you don’t respond with attacks or hatred and negativity. Respond with love, with the real eternal truth and the God qualities of love, light, joy, harmony, beauty, and peace.

“People’s actions reveal what is in their hearts. When it is negative, it is a result of some kind of fear. Look at your thoughts and actions. That is what is inside of you, taking up valuable space, pushing out love. What you send out is what you choose to receive in return. If you send out hatred (a form of fear), you receive hatred. Choose to send out love, not fear.

“That doesn’t mean politicians {or abusers} or the press or their followers are allowed to do whatever they want. To let them get by with lies and greed and harming others means you are enabling their behavior. You become part of the problem, not the solution.

“Be smart. Be wise. Look beyond the platitudes and the smooth lies. The challenge is in knowing the truth beyond the perceptions. Don’t depend on a prejudiced press or supporters for the truth. Don’t believe everything you hear or read. Research truthful sources. Ask me for help in knowing the truth. Trust in me.”

I asked how you love the people you’re propagandized to fear?

“With love. I know I say that with every answer, but that is because love is what matters. What does that mean?

“It means react and choose from love, not fear. It means pray for those for whom you feel anger and fear. Image them with God’s light around them, filling them with truth and all of the God’s qualities. It means sending your love to them. It means to send healing thoughts and prayers to fill them, surround them, and everyone around them, and to the country, and to the planet. It means to contribute in a positive way.

“It means that, from love, you say no to anyone who, out of fear—which includes ego—rages and destroys and seeks to hurt and harm. That is not love. Seek healing, not revenge. Be part of the improvement, not the destruction. Do unto others as you wish them to do unto you.

“When people act out their rage, it means that, in their fright, they are frantically looking outside themselves for their happiness and fulfillment. The Inner Divine is your Unlimited Supplier for your happiness, not from anything outside yourself.

“Love originates from your Source of Love filling you continuously. Remove any hatred or fear that is blocking Divine love so that love fills you to overflowing. First, love yourself, without judgment and with compassion. Then you can love others as you love yourself.

“Remember, you are not your experiences. You are not a label. You are not the drama playing out around you. You are not supplied by those making the promises.

“You are an eternal spirit beyond all of the illusions in the world, including politics. You are one with the Greatest Power in the Universe.

“Ask for Divine guidance at all times. I am with you always. We are a team. Together we make a loving difference. Be part of the solution. Allow me to send love, through you.”

Meaning: This is a volatile subject and stirs passionate reactions.

But, as you notice in the quotes and throughout this book, love is always the answer. As Jesus said earlier, the challenge is in knowing the truth beyond the perceptions. Only Divine guidance knows the real truth.

Here are my personal concerns that I’ve turned over to Jesus:

Tolerance, or the lack of. My concern is that we’ve become an intolerant society, replaced by hatred and judgment. According to the Miriam-Webster Dictionary, tolerance is “a willingness to accept feelings, habits, or beliefs that are different from your own.”

Truth is often buried beneath the ‘agenda-spin’. What is sad is when anger and rage mistakenly stem from lies that people believe with all their hearts are the truth, but are really distortions that a press or candidates have claimed is true but are spun into lies so they could win. When that happens, everyone is hurt. Don’t get caught in the lie-trap.

Integrity is another loss. Honesty is fading in importance. Sadly, ‘getting by’ with something is often considered a joke and something to admire.

How are tolerance, truth and integrity undermined?

Fear. Fear is used to control. Fear and control are prevalent in politics, advertising, churches, companies, and families. You’re warned that if you don’t vote for their candidate, buy their product, practice their religion, that horrible results will happen to you—and the planet.

Think about the list: Hate, anger, fear, control, intolerance, lies—everything that is the opposite of the God qualities, which are love, truth, beauty, peace, harmony, and joy.

The truth is, God loves unconditionally. God is love. You are love. Be loving in all situations. Be love. There are no exceptions.

Choose the God-qualities that result in a blessed life for you. No matter what is going on around you,

Choose God. Choose Love.

“You are to repeat and repeat until all know without doubt, you are one with your Source, and the Source is your Unlimited Supplier, not a human.

“Which means that you are to turn to the Source for all things. And…”

“Once you ‘get Oneness’, everything else falls in place.” ~ Jesus

Love Doesn’t Mean Condoning Behavior

Posted on Updated on

The following is an interesting post on how to love challenging people without being an enabler. Hope you enjoy the excerpt From the book Divine Messages from Jesus for a magnificent life p. 177-179. 2015. Cathey, Carolyne.

Truth.

ALL ARE CHILDREN of God, created by God, but that doesn’t mean you ignore behavior that is not loving. You are to know the truth about everyone in that they are eternal spirits who are created by the Source from the same love that is God.

Jesus said:

“The challenge is that many people don’t know the truth of who they are and, out of ignorance and fear, make ego-based decisions rather than love-based. Ego-based and fear-based are the same.

“How do you react and respond? No matter what, you see the truth of who they are even though they don’t know it for themselves—eternal spirits created by love. You reject anything that is not an embodiment of their truth. If they lie and manipulate and connive and try to destroy, you say no to that behavior. To accept without question the negativity emanating from them means you are enabling their behavior, encouraging their misperceptions.

“Love of yourself means you do not allow others to treat you with less than the love and respect you deserve as a child of God. Self-love means only allowing loving behavior from yourself as well as from others.

“Self-sacrifice might appear noble but when enacted without self-love you weaken yourself and those around you.

“What unhealthy self-sacrifice means is if you continually give self-sacrificially to the point that others become dependent on you. The result is that they aren’t developing their own strength and realizing their own truth. What you might believe is helpful, might, in reality, harm. In actuality, unhealthy self-sacrifice, when searched below the surface, can be ego-based—acting so as to feel needed, superior, which is harmful to everyone involved.

“That doesn’t mean you don’t help people.

“If your heart and Divine Guide tell you it is the right thing to do to help a particular person or situation, then you do it according to God’s direction. If you are Divinely urged to help someone into an improved situation that will empower them and help them gain their independence, freedom, self-worth and the truth of who they are, then of course you are to help. And of course you always show love and compassion. But if you want successful results, don’t attempt the impossible by thinking you are stepping away from God to do it. You do all things through God and with God’s inner-led direction.

“You are urged to see the truth of everyone, saying no to everything that isn’t the truth.”

“Love of yourself means you do not allow others to treat you with less than the love and respect you deserve as a child of God. Self-love means only allowing loving behavior from yourself as well as from others.” ~ Jesus
